OHBA lists finalists for 2023 Awards of Distinction

49 categories recognized for building, architecture. design, renovation, marketing

The Ontario Home Builders’ Association (OHBA) has announced finalists for its 2023 Awards of Distinction, recognizing achievements in building, design, professional renovation, and sales and marketing within the province’s residential construction industry.

"The OHBA Awards of Distinction celebrates innovation and excellence in homebuilding, professional renovation, and sales and marketing in communities across the province,” OHBA COO Sajida Jiwani said in a release.

A record of over 600 entries were submitted, Jiwani said.

A panel of industry professionals across Canada is judging the finalists in 49 categories. Winners will be announced Sept. 19 during the OHBA Annual Conference at Blue Mountain Resort Village Conference Centre in Collingwood.

The 2023 OHBA People’s Choice Awards will be open from Aug. 23 to Sept. 8, allowing the public to vote for their favourite project.

The Toronto-based home builder industry group has about 4,000 member companies.

The OHBA Prestige Awards

The finalists for OHBA Builder of the Year – Large Volume are:

Great Gulf’s portfolio consists of communities such as Milton Village and the 51-storey 8 Cumberland.

Daniels’ communities include MPV2 in Brampton and the upcoming Oakville Yards condominium suites.

Tridel is behind the Harbourwalk Condos development in Mississauga and is a partner on The Well in Toronto.

The finalists for OHBA Builder of the Year – Small Volume are:

Dietrich Homes is a developer and home constructor with recent projects including the Trails of Lily Lake single homes and condos.

Khanani Developments is developing the Harmony Crossing community in Mississauga, after recently completing Brampton’s Mayfield Manors.

SLV Homes offers custom home builds, model homes and home renovation services.

For Project of the Year – High- or Mid-Rise:

The Residences at Central Park is a 12-acre, master-planned community with a 31-storey tower overlooking the forested East Don Parkland.

Northshore is made up of one-, two- and three-bedroom condos in vicinity to a beach, a golf and country club, a park, transit including the GO Train, and highways including the QEW and Hwy. 403.

The Vincent Condominiums is a 766-unit, two-tower development in the growing Vaughan Metropolitan Centre.

For Project of the Year – Low-Rise:

West & Post is a collection of two-, three- and four-storey townhomes located near schools, parks and retail stores.

Greenwood Seaton is located near Hwys. 401 and 407 and the Pickering GO station, with an emphasis on 2.5- and three-bedroom townhomes.

A master-planned community, The Heights of Harmony offers a mix of two- or three-bedroom townhomes and rear lane townhomes in three- or four-bedroom layouts.

Architectural Design awards

Rinaldi Homes led with the most architecture award finalists at five, followed by Pratt Homes with four and Minto with three.

Rinaldi is nominated for:

  • Production Built Home (one storey) for Clare View in Welland and The Baker House in Fort Erie;
  • Production Built Home (two storeys up to 2,500 square feet) for The Ridge in Thorold;
  • Attached Multi-Unit Home for Abbey “Elevated Living” in Fonthill and Moderno in Niagara Falls.

Pratt’s finalist projects are:

  • Production Built Home (two storeys up to 2,500 square feet) for Hewitt’s Gate “1845” in Barrie;
  • Production Built Home (two to three storeys 2,501 square feet and over) for Hewitt’s Gate “2550” in Barrie;
  • Mid-Rise Building (four to 10 storeys) for the Elements Condominium in Barrie;
  • Mid- or High-Rise Condo Suite (four or more storeys 801 square feet and over) for the Elements Condominium in Barrie.

Finalists for Minto are:

  • High-Rise Building (11 or more storeys) for North Oak Tower 3 in Oakville;
  • Mid- or High-Rise Condo Suite (Four or more storeys, 801 square feet and over) for 123 Portland in Toronto;
  • High- or Mid-Rise Green Building (four-or-more storeys) for North Oak Tower 3 in Oakville.

Innovation Award and People’s Choice Award

  • Amexon Development Corp. for The Residences at Central Park in Toronto;
  • Branthaven Homes for West & Post in Oakville;
  • DECO Homes for Greenwood Seaton in Pickering;
  • Minto Communities for The Heights of Harmony in Oshawa;
  • National Homes for Northshore in Burlington;
  • Rosehaven Homes Ltd. for The Vincent Condominiums, Vaughan.
